I just downloaded WhatsApp Messenger on my BlackBerry.

It is a Smartphone Messenger which replaces SMS. This app even lets me send pictures, video and other multi-media!

WhatsApp Messenger is available for BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia and there is no PIN or username to remember - it works just like SMS and uses your internet data plan.

Nigerian Beauty Queen Summer Tour 2013

It will indeed be a memorable tour that will leave a footprint on the sand of time, as disclosed to Glees Media by Mr Ubong Udobong the Project Director. He buttressed that the idea is born out of the need to use tourism as a tool for national unity and attract the world to Akwa Ibom state as a destination of choice for business and leisure.

In his words ‘Governor Godswill Akpabio CON, through his good governance, has been doing a lot of qualitative projects and touching lives, we want to spread this message across Nigeria, so we conceptualised the idea to initiate the gathering of national and state queens from different backgrounds and platforms in Nigeria to be instrumental to that. The queens will use this tour to build a bond amongst themselves, with the state, as well as the media. They will take home the memories from the visit and see in reality all they have heard in the media about Akwa Ibom state..the City Of Hospitality'.

"Queens are not mere beauties, but an embodiment of elegance with teeming fan-base because of the crown they wear, and the people they represent, after the tour, they will use their beauty, and good office to spread the message of development in the state to other states in their respective capacities” he added.

The visit which is already creating serious media expectation in the city of Uyo is expected to feature top Nigerian beauty Queen. The newly crowned Face Of Unity Nigeria, Queen Chichi Mbagwu who travelled to United Kingdom after pet project launch in Abuja regret her unavoidable absence at the beauty queens tourism tour, she however told GLees MEDIA from UK “ Its sad I might not be around but my partner Queen Chidimma Obichie Face Of Unity Nigeria Diaspora and other Queens will sure put up good representation”. The bristish Nigerian beauty was also quoted as saying “travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world. In truth, the South south part of Nigeria is a great driving destination for tourism - heritage, cultural, leisure and pleasure”

Asides Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort, which is the best in West Africa, the magnificent edifice of the Ibom E-Library, and Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Complex, the queens will also visit historic tourist sites like the Ukanafun Blue River, The Mary Slessor Tomb, Ibeno Beach, Raffia City Ikot Ekpene with a bid to see how these sites can be tapped and promoted.

The search beamed its luminous light on all universities, all polytechnics, all colleges of education and other vocational schools to fish out beautiful paragons being housed in Nigeria’s campuses across the federation.

In the seriously contested pageant, Miss Olarunsola Chinaka Nkechi of Imo State University made history as she was crowned :” MOST BEAUTIFUL STUDENT IN NIGERIA 2012’’. The pegeant which has other special crowns to synchronize its unique nature and spread had Miss Edem Peace Pual of University of Abuja as the:”CAMPUS FACE OF THE YEAR’’. Miss Mariam Bello from Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State became:” STUDENT BRAND OF THE YEAR’’. Miss Kalu Chioma Augustina from Imo State University was crowned: “MBSN AMBASSADOR. Miss Victoria Amstrong of the University of Uyo wins the:”MBSN TOURISM. MBSN GLAMOROUS couldn’t have been won by any other person but the gorgeous looking Karen Sunday of the Anambra state university while the most outspoken and confident Evans Blessing Ottu from the University of Abuja was crowned the :”MBSN DEMOCRACY. The pageant which was hosted by Akwaibom State government under anchorage of the Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Dr Clement Bassey could best be described as highly oxymoronic as tears of pains from losing out and profound feeling of ecstasy radiated on the faces of those that won various prizes from the contest.

In his congratulatory message to the Queen and other winners, the Akwa Ibom state commissioner for Culture and tourism, Dr clement Bassey assured the organisers that next year's edition of the contest shall be fully supported by the government while advising that efforts be intensified to ensure earlier preparation. he also stated that the 50th birthday celebration of the governor that overshadowed most social activities in the state the commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the to give adequate support commiserate that given to Miss Nigeria pageant come next edition of the contest.
The high-point of the event was the crowning of the Queens by the commissioner and other prominent personalities present.
